Maison Alhambra Salvo eau de parfum bottle

Reviewed: Maison Alhambra Salvo Eau de Parfum

Most of our fragrance wall is warm, sweet and loud. Salvo is the opposite, and that is exactly why it is here.

The scent

Fresh and green up top — citrus and a clean herbal note — over a woody, slightly mineral base. It reads crisp and soapy in the best sense, the kind of thing that smells like a well-kept person rather than a statement.

If you know the Creed green fragrances, you will recognise the direction immediately. The stag on the bottle is not a coincidence.

Black at the shoulder fading to green at the base, over a chrome foot, with a small stag emblem beneath the name.

Performance

Moderate projection and around six hours on skin, which is honest for the style — fresh fragrances almost never last like sweet ones, and anything claiming otherwise is usually cheating with heavy synthetics. Three sprays is reasonable here where two would do for the Armaf.

This is the one to wear in real heat. It gets better as the temperature goes up, where the oud bottles get worse.

The bottle

A gradient from black at the shoulder down to a deep green at the base, sitting on a chrome foot, with a black cap. 100ml. It is the most restrained bottle on the shelf and it looks more expensive than the ones covered in gold.

The box is ribbed navy and black. Understated, which suits what is inside it.

Who it's for

Anyone who works around other people, anyone who finds oud fragrances overwhelming, and anyone who wants something for daytime and summer. If you want to be noticed across a room, this is the wrong bottle and Club de Nuit is the right one.
